Background to the exhibition
The ANZAC message is a powerful story for young people today and as difficult and as multi-layered as the message may be, it is still relevant. We decided to explore what it still means to us as a modern, multi-cultural society. The students involved in this exhibition explored image and text at the National War Memorial and the creative nature of painting and photography to produce their images.
'Remembrance' was the theme taken by Year 10 and Mr Conley. Students worked with artist grade canvas and media.
'Memorial' - Ms Hunter and Year 8 completed a site specific work based on a local war memorial. Students photographed the site before embarking on their collaboration.
'The Day' - Ms Burne worked with Year 7 and 9 to research the lives of soldiers in the ANZAC Campaign. Many empathised with the situations that the soldiers found themselves in.
